We have been in Four (4) states today. Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida finally as of 3:30pm. Time change to one hour ahead.
We went along the water in Biloxi, MS and saw the battle ship "Alabama" and a B-52 in Mobile.
Lots of southern pine trees along the road when there wasn't swamps.
Steve thought I sounded really good on the phone and we discovered that it wasn't me it was Kathy!!

ROAD TRIP TO VENICE DAY 7
Day 7 - On the road again by 8:10am. Morning sun is right in our eyes. It is going to be nice but a windy day to day. Today is Alayne's birthday.
We are seeing a sliver of the moon, looking like a smile, which was in NM and Texas.
Houston was a pretty city passing through with some interesting architecture. would like to stop someday and see it!!!
We had a 15mhp exit ramp, I slowed down but not enough and Arizona came flying through the middle and landed on his feet!!! It has been a excellent passenger.
Arizona decided to fend for himself, knowing it was dinner time and we were still not stopping and went to his dried food and the cat carrier, sat and looked at it for a while, then gave in.
Louisiana, never seen so much wet lands, we traveled on a bridges/causeways for miles with no exits or entrances.
Baton Rouge our first major traffic jam, was a long time getting through the city in one piece.
Good news no one got lost at lunch to day.
Spent the night in Hammond, LA at the "Michabelle" A little Inn. Built in 1908, lovely colonial bed and breakfast, both rooms very beautiful and large. And we all had drinks on the veranda. Spanky and Arizona especially enjoyed be loose outside but contained.

ROAD TRIP TO VENICE
Day 6 - Came back from dinner last night to find Arizona sitting inocently on the sofa while Spanky had scattered the dirty clothes all over the room and dumped the waste paper baskets.
On the road again @8:10a.m. The morning sun is shining right in our eyes. It is going to be nice, but very windy today.
Our destination is San Antonio to see the Alamo. Our drive had low fog, some rain. San Antonio was a little difficult to find our way in town, but parked and visited the Alamo and had a nice lunch on the Riverwalk. Great to see the Alamo.
We ended up in Seguin for the night, had snacks for dinner in our rooms.
Traveled about 320 miles today.

ROAD TRIP TO VENICE DAY 5
Finish of Day 4, we had dinner @ "Irene's" they kept it open for us @8:30pm. Nice dinner.
Day 5 - Left Benson, AZ @ 8:15 am. Headed for New Mexico to Texas, Ft. Stockton. About 500 miles.
A Big red truck tried to run us off the road, that was scarry!!! When we stopped in Lordsburg, the red truck also stopped, we approached him, and he denied everything.
Just before NM the view was beautiful of red rounded rocks, one looked like a giant chair looking over the horizon.
Then an exit, NM, Las Cruces was called "Truth or Consequences", name after the TV show.
The drive from there was flat, flat, flat!!!
We had lunch in El Paso, TX, where the wind was blowing dust all over. This town is on the border of Mexico, you could see the border fence and the houses on the rocky ledges. We had a difficult time, with much a do, but had lunch. Arizona somehow came out of his harness and went under a car, saved by the tail.
Dinner @ "K-Bob's" in Ft. Stockton, TX, we ordered and were waiting over a half an hour, but the fellow back of us fell out of his chair and sent the neighboring table with dishes, drinks, etc. all over us, so we had to move to eat. We did have some good wine "Ste. Genevieve", so bought some for later. Dinner was so so!!!
Steve went to get some ice so they could have a drink, no "Meyers rum" at the restaurant. He went to the ice machine on the first floor out of order, but the candy machine worked. Then went up stairs and the ice machine worked, but the candy of out of order.
Time for bed, Kathy got the room with the jetted tub, so she is enjoying that tonight. I enjoyed the hot tub last night.

ROAD TRIP TO VENICE - Day #2, #3, & #4
Sorry, these last days have been long, but it is day #4 and we are settled in Benson, AZ.
Day 2 - One animal in the car, but Arizona's cat carrier was carried out by someone without the cat!!! Luckily we checked the carrier and we finally had both animals in the car and were ready to go by 8:30a.m. And guess what NO RAIN some sun and clouds.
Somehow George is in charge of the hotel, and we will be heading for "Buttonwillow", but this name is changed by us several times such as: Butterville, Butternutville, Butterbean, but the most approxiate was Buttweed!!!!! Not a pleasant place, smelly and the sheets were holely!!!The Bitch" is really bothering us.
Day 3 - Left motel, because the continental breakfast sucked!! Headed for Starbucks and then on to LA. Lots of fog and smog, maybe a good sunset. "Louise" was giving us a lot of trouble. In fact George was ready to through it out the window.
Went to Palm Desert to visit Linda's high school friends. They were great, let the animals out to play in the grass and around the house. Carol and Mike had a great lunch for us. It was really appreciated. Had a fun visit and heard about Carol and Mike's trip, but look forward to seeing photos later. Then headed on the Indio.
Found a Best Western, much better room and spot. Difficult to find motels for animals!!!
Headed for friends of Kathy and Steve's to "Happy Wonderer", had a little happy hour and headed for a Mexican restaurant. Very fun to visit with Dense, Russ and Gerty.
Day 4 - Our alarm did not go off, we had hopes of leaving at 7:00am, but did not leave until 8:00am. I am not feeling the greatest, lots of tylenol.
Headed for Phoenix to see two Dons, met in Peoria @Chili's. Nice visit, Don Binder leaves Tuesday to see Avery and Ben, lucky Don and Judy.
Left Phoenix and drove to Maricopa to see friends of Schwenns.
Drove on the Benson, AZ to spend the night again in a Best Western, now time for dinner.

First Day - Road Trip to Venice
In the cars by 8:15am. Pretty good time! Planned to leave at 8:00am, the cars were packed to the roofs. Spanky in the Explorer and Arizona in the Mercedes. We have visions of arriving in a big ball of cat hair. We love Arizona, but could do without the cat hair, we lost the brush, must buy one soon.
After a stop for gas, hot cocoa, chai and a mocha, we are on the road. Raining like a son-a-gun, we pray it clears, this is awful driving. (It never did clear)
We stopped for lunch at "Fuddruckers", okay lunch, good rest from driving.
George is concerned about Spanky his hair is flat and he looks like he has had it. But of course we do not look any better.
We made it as far as Medford, checked in and had Happy Hour in the room with wine, rum, cheese, crackers, smoked salmon and dark chocolate. Good dinner!!!
Having trouble downloading photos on the new computer (Dell-Windows 7), will work on this, we do have some cute photos in the rain.
